Archbishop Neale Catholic School

La Plata, Maryland

Following the devastating tornado that struck Southern Maryland, and destroyed the Archbishop Neale Catholic School, in April of 2002 Patuxent Architects, Inc. met the challenge of assembling a temporary school facility for the students to return to in August for the new school year.

The tornado struck on April 28, 2002 and Patuxent Architects, Inc. immediately began the design of a new 55,000 sqft. school facility with a capacity of 550 students. The drawings were completed to apply for permits on Oct. 1, 2002. The permits were issued on Oct. 23, 2002 and the new building was occupied in January 2004. Patuxent Architects, Inc. was able to condense the design and permitting of a project which normally takes approximately 18-24 months into 5 months.
